Never underestimate how the quality of a presentation can determine a company's success.  The quality of the product, how persuasive you are and the graphic design used in your presentation are all important.

5 necessities

Necessities of an excellent presentation

Plan everything – the objective of your efforts is to attract, tell or sell something. While preparing for the presentation, think about how the presentation should look – try to put yourself in the role of your audience and think about how to attract them.

Carefully prepare all parts of your presentation - if you are trying to sell something, the end of the presentation must be striking and convincing. On the other hand, if you are trying to get the audience on your side (ex. a presentation at school), do not be afraid to leave an open end, or finish with a question that makes people think.

Use an attractive design – at first glance, the graphic nature of the presentation captures more attention than any content. That is what you are aiming for, thus do not hesitate to use common, yet clear motives. Avoid kitsch that may unnecessarily distract attention from your presentation.

Carefully choose a suitable font and an appropriate size.  Make sure that the text is readable and visually friendly. The important words and main points of your presentation may be distinguished by different colors and sizes. But remember, everything in moderation.

Add pictures – there isn't a good presentation without plenty of pictures and photos with a high-quality resolution! Smudged stains on the canvas will not project a positive imagine. Also, a reasonably chosen video related to the content of your presentation will peak the interest of your audience. However, beware of its length. A long video will divert their attention.

Another option for drawing the attention of your audience is to insert animations. Keep in mind that it is only suitable in some cases, so choose carefully based on what and to whom you present to, and who can help you with the animation.

Engage the audience – ask questions, talk to the audience, be fully engaged, whatever it takes to keep their attention. This is the only way you will be able to successfully communicate what your presentation is truly about.

Remember that good things go to those who are appropriately prepared. You may be a natural speaker, but if you are not adequately prepared, you may be unpleasantly surprised. The good news is that LIGS University can teach you effective presentation skills.
