8 things you should know about an MBA study program

You've undoubtedly heard about an MBA program already. Are there still some things that are not clear to you? If so, you don't have to scroll through websites and search for answers anymore. The following overview gives answers to the most common questions.

What is an MBA program?

It is a management education program that mainly aims to deepen and broaden one's existing knowledge in a way that it can be put back into practice. Simply put – it is not about studying theorems, definitions, and multipage textbooks, but about improving practical skills.

Which degree will you earn?

Upon successful completion of the MBA study you will be awarded a Master of Business Administration degree, which after graduating may be put next to your name.

Is an MBA degree recognized in the Czech Republic?

An MBA is a foreign degree. Thus it is not recognized in the Czech Republic. However, it is not necessary to lose heart, because the aim of the MBA program is not to give you the opportunity to put something impressive next to your name on your business card, but to gain practical knowledge that will help you to better manage, communicate and solve concrete problems.

Where can I study?

Schools offering MBA programs are mostly concentrated in larger cities, although this does not mean that they are not accessible to everyone. Currently, the opportunity to study online from home is also possible. Thus, it is not a problem to get an MBA degree from any corner of the country. MBA distance learning is available through various programs as well.

Which schools have the highest quality?

When assessing the quality of an MBA program, it will pay off to look out for a few indicators. It’s common to find schools that state that the Ministry of Education has accredited their courses. Such a claim is nonsense and a clear indication of a school's nontransparency. Keep in mind that schools that offer MBA programs receive accreditation for them abroad. It is also a good idea to look for graduates‘ references and find out how many of them there are. If the number is too high in proportion to the school's duration, it may indicate a rather low requirement for graduation and thus offer a lower quality of education.

For who is the study suitable?

To obtain an MBA degree, you should meet the following requirements – have at least a bachelor’s degree or secondary education and have documented managerial experience. In practice, most of the students are from middle management positions.

What can an MBA degree bring?

Except broadening and gaining practical knowledge, it could also lead to a better work position, which usually goes hand in hand with obtaining a higher income. You will be able to make valuable new contacts. On top of all that you are likely to have a newfound confidence.

How long does the study take?

The study usually takes 1-2 years.
